There are still two months left in our pilot operation before the second renovation in the summer. Finally, after many weeks, our tower clock has been repaired by the IWB. This will now continue in St Paul's Church in May and June:
A full choral weekend awaits us on 7/8 May: the choir of Oberwil High School will perform Palmeri's famous ‘Misa a Buenos Aires’ for a special kind of tango evening; the following day, Ensemble Cantalon will celebrate the musical awakening of spring with a matinée for Mother's Day.
On 15 May 2022, early music will be heard for the first time at Kulturkirche: the award-winning vocal ensemble ‘Voces Suaves’ will perform a workshop concert in collaboration with the Aargau choir ‘Vocalino’ from Wettingen. The programme includes the ‘Missa de Batalla’ by Joan Cererols as well as medieval dance songs and ballads from the Montserrat monastery in Catalonia.
Further concerts will be given by the children's choirs of the Basel Music School (20 May), the GGG with the project choir ‘Canto sem Fronteiras’ (17 June) and the music school ‘Basler Saiten’ (18 June); the annual ‘Freiluft festival’ on 1 July on our forecourt is of course a must!
À propos forecourt: Who doesn't remember last year's golden autumn with our pop-up garden café? Next Saturday the time has finally come: our garden café will officially open and will be open for the whole season until the end of October.
And last but not least, a note on our own behalf: we have raised two thirds of the funds we need to upgrade the infrastructure, but we are still missing one or two amounts. On 22 June, we are therefore inviting you to the big benefit concert for our cultural church, supported by Nubya and the ensemble ‘Les Voix’ and hosted by Dani von Wattenwyl. Be sure to save the date, more information will follow soon!
