The summer season at St Paul's Church ended with two major events - the opening concert of the Martinů Festival and the guest performance by the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. But we won't be bored, on the contrary: a variety of concerts and events await us in the Kulturkirche in the remaining two months until the end of the year. An overview.

From November, you can not only dance in St Paul's Church, but also meditate: on three Wednesdays, you can attend silent meditation sessions with Gina Metafuni in our choir chapel to escape the stress of everyday life for a while. Four more times until the end of the year, you can also let off steam with free expressive dance at the ‘Ecstatic Roots Dance’.
We have successfully continued our own concert series, which was launched in September with the opening concerts, with a first Open Singing event. On 12 November, the Basel Girls' Choir and the ensemble Les Voix will perform with us together with 14 musicians to bring ‘Die Engelwacht’ back to life; it is a long-lost oratorio by the Basel composer Rudolf Löw-Burckhardt.
On 6 December there will be a concert in memory of Ernst Pfiffner; the important Swiss composer and church musician would have been 100 years old on this day; the concert will be organised in collaboration with the Catholic Church Music Associations of Switzerland. On 24 December we end the year with a short Christmas celebration, organised by Beat Rink (words) and Susanne Hagen (music).
Just in time for Advent, St Paul's Church will once again be decorated for Christmas, including the traditional Christmas tree. It will provide the ambience for the many Advent concerts: on 1 December, the gospel choir ‘In His Hands’ will make the church and audience vibrate, followed on 3 December by the guild choirs of the E. Zünfte zu Rebleuten and Weinleuten with their Advent programme. The overtone choir ‘Partial’ will perform special choral sounds on 10 December, before a young orchestra, ‘Juventus Musica Basel’, makes a guest appearance the following day.
On 21 December, just before Christmas Eve, the famous tenors from ‘I QUATTRO’ will conclude their Swiss Christmas tour with a concert in Basel. With a charity concert for the refugee organisation ‘SOS Méditerranée’, the choir of Muttenz High School sends out a Christmas message of solidarity and humanitarian aid.
